'Backyard Bees' was inspired by a quiet moment of observation in my own garden, where two bees were drawn to a freshly picked cherry blossom in search of nectar. Capturing the fleeting encounter through photography, I later translated the scene into paint, preserving its quiet beauty and sense of wonder.

The work became an exploration of light, shadow, and natural colour, deepening my appreciation for the intricate forms and quiet significance of these remarkable pollinators. Through a careful study of tone and shape, the painting celebrates both their delicate presence and the essential role they play within the natural world.
